- Try to stay in the middle of the air.
- Do not go near the edges of it.
- The edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space. It is much more difficult to fly there.

All too often pilot's forget these three rules while their attention is diverted elsewhere like the DC-10 accident years ago in the Everglades while the pilots descended into the glades while sorting out a landing gear problem.
That's fair enough as far as it goes but I expect that pilots who get distracted by emergencies or problems think they are flying the airplane. Until they're not. At the end of the day the golden rule of aviation is 'don't crash the plane' but applying the rule is more complicated than it sounds! 🙂
