This is probably the most beautiful bit of aviation filming I have ever seen. It’s just gorgeous. It’s mostly film taken from a glider in the mountains around Sion in Switzerland at 10,000-21,000 feet. If you’ve never flown before, this film will explain why we do it. It’s worth clicking on the ‘full screen’ button just to see it in all its HD glory.

RAF Cosford flying visit (with video)
My friend Nick and I flew up to RAF Cosford on Friday to visit the excellent RAF museum there. The museum is a must-see for any propellerhead and the RAF were very welcoming and friendly. There’s a bit of paperwork to do and there’s an interesting ‘centreline’ join – down the centreline at 1,200 feet then turn downwind descending to 800 feet – but nothing too daunting. Highly recommended. Nick made a great video of the flight and a few of the highlights from the museum.
Flyabout – movie review
I just watched Flyabout, a movie by Monika Petrillo about her flight around Australia with her father. It is a partly a film about flying but also a film about family relationships and personal discovery. It is inspired by the Aboriginal tradition of a ‘walkabout’ and it has something of that ‘anything may happen’ mood. I enjoyed it very much and recommend it to any pilot.

My friend Nick made this great video about our visit to the Duxford Airshow on Saturday. Almost like being there in HD!
